Signing in
Sign in with a passkey, an emailed link or code, or a linked account such as Google – there is no password.
What it's for
Pulse has no passwords. You sign in with a link or a 6-digit code sent to your email, or faster with a passkey (Face ID, Touch ID, Windows Hello, a phone PIN or a security key). Under Sign-in & security you manage your passkeys and the accounts linked to your Pulse account.
When to use it
- You are signing in for the first time, or on a new phone or computer.
- You want to sign in faster next time, without waiting for an email.
- You want to sign in with Google as well as with your email.
Sign in with an email link
- Open the sign-in page, enter your Email and select Email me a sign-in link.
- Open the sign-in email (it is in the language of your profile) and select Sign in in it.
- A Pulse page opens. Select Sign in once more to finish.
Result: You are signed in on the device where you opened the link.
Sign in with the code from the email
- On the sign-in page enter your Email and select Email me a sign-in link.
- Keep the page open. Read the email on any device – it also contains a 6-digit code.
- Type the code under Or enter the code from the email and select Sign in.
Result: You are signed in on the device where you typed the code. This is handy when your email is on your phone but you want to use a computer.
Add a passkey
You need: To be signed in once (for example by email).
- Open the account menu (top right) and select Sign-in & security.
- Under Passkeys select Add a passkey.
- Confirm with your fingerprint, face, device PIN or security key.
- Optionally rename it with the pencil icon, for example "My phone".
Result: Next time select Sign in with a passkey on the sign-in page. Add one on every device you use, or keep it in your password manager to use it everywhere.
Link Google or another sign-in method
- Open Sign-in & security.
- Under Linked sign-in methods select Link Google (or another listed service).
- Sign in with that account and allow access.
Result: You can now also sign in with Continue with Google and you end up in the same account with the same bands. The buttons appear only if your Pulse offers them.
Remove a passkey or unlink an account
- Open Sign-in & security.
- Delete a passkey with the bin icon, or select Unlink next to a linked account.
Result: That method no longer signs you in. You can't remove your last sign-in method.
Permissions and limits
- Pulse is invite-only: you can sign in only with an email address that already has an account, or that an invitation was sent to.
- The sign-in link and code work once and only for a limited time.
- To protect accounts, only a limited number of sign-in emails can be sent per hour.
- Sign out from the account menu with Sign out – do it on shared computers.
Examples
Your first sign-in
Open the link from your invitation, sign in by email, accept the invitation, and then add a passkey under Sign-in & security so next time takes one tap.
Email on your phone, Pulse on a computer
Request the email on the computer, open it on your phone and type the 6-digit code on the computer. Opening the link on the phone would sign in the phone instead.
Common mistakes
- Waiting to be signed in after opening the email link – you still have to select Sign in on the Pulse page that opens.
- Requesting many emails in a row – each new email makes the earlier links and codes invalid, and after too many you have to wait. Use the newest email.
- Signing in with a different email address than the one your band invited – you get an empty account or no account at all.
Troubleshooting
"This sign-in link is no longer valid."
The link was already used, expired, or a newer email replaced it. Some company mail systems (for example Outlook with link scanning) open links in advance – that's why Pulse waits for your click. Select Get a new sign-in link, or type the code from the email on the sign-in page.
"There's no account for this email."
Pulse is invitation-only. Check the address for typos, or ask your band admin for an invitation – see Invitations.
"Too many sign-in emails were requested."
Wait a few minutes and try again, or sign in with a passkey.
The sign-in email didn't arrive.
Check spam or junk and wait a few minutes. Make sure you typed your address correctly, then request a new email.
My passkey isn't offered on a new device.
Passkeys are stored on the device or in your password manager. On a new device sign in by email once and select Add a passkey there.
Adding or removing a passkey asks for a code from an authenticator app.
Your account has an authenticator app as a second factor (Pulse staff have one). After signing in with an email link or code, changes to passkeys need that app's code once: enter the 6-digit code under Confirm it's you and select Confirm. For a new passkey, select Add a passkey again afterwards.
