Calendar
See the band's events month by month in the calendar on the Events page.
What it's for
The calendar shows all band events of a month at a glance, so you can spot busy weeks and free days. It is part of the Events page: next to the list on a computer, above it on a phone.
When to use it
- You want to see a whole month at once.
- You are checking whether a date is still free before agreeing to a gig.
- You want to create an event on a particular day.
Browse the months
- Open Events. The calendar shows the current month.
- Use Previous month and Next month (the arrows) to move, and Today to come back.
- Colours show the event type – see the legend under the calendar (Gig, Rehearsal, Other). Tentative events have a dashed border; cancelled ones are faded and crossed out.
- On a computer each day shows up to three events with the time, title and a small dot with your answer (an empty ring means you haven't answered). + more shows the rest. On a phone each day shows only coloured dots.
See what's on a day
- Select a day number in the calendar.
- Under the calendar, Events on … lists that day's events with time, type and venue.
- Select an event to open it.
Result: If nothing is planned, you see Nothing planned for this day.
Create an event on a day
You need: The Create events permission.
- Select the day in the calendar, then New event below it. On a computer you can also point at a day and select the + that appears.
- The new event form opens with that date filled in – see Events.
See band events in your own calendar app
- Open Calendar feed in your account menu.
- Subscribe to your personal feed in Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook – see Calendar feed.
Result: Band events appear in your calendar app next to your private appointments and update automatically.
Permissions and limits
- Everyone who can see events (View events) sees the calendar. It always shows all event types, also when the list below is filtered.
- Creating events from the calendar needs Create events (Band Admin and Band Manager by default).
Examples
Is 14 March free?
A promoter asks about a date. Open Events, go to March and select the 14th. If Nothing planned for this day. is shown, the band has nothing there yet – but ask the band before you say yes, or start an Event planning poll.
Common mistakes
- Looking for a separate Calendar item in the menu. The calendar is on the Events page.
- Expecting the calendar to show private appointments. It only shows band events; to see both together, use the Calendar feed.
Troubleshooting
I don't see New event under the calendar.
Your role can't create events. Ask a band admin.
The calendar is empty but I know there are events this month.
Check that you are in the right month (select Today to come back) and the right band.
